David Flemming

Painter | Cartoonist| Graphic Design

Artist Profile:

David Flemming was a vibrant artist and musician known for his lively depictions of jazz clubs, bustling parties, and soulful abstract scenes. Though much of his work leaned into abstraction, his paintings radiated deep emotion and offered glimpses into his rich inner world.

Born in Seattle, Washington, to two dedicated medical doctors, David grew up in a lively household alongside his three equally energetic brothers. Music was a lifelong love—he played bass in numerous bands and found joy in the rhythm and connection that music brought to his life and art.

David taught graphic design at Pierce College in Fort Steilacoom, Washington, where he inspired generations of young creatives. He also lent his wit and artistic talent to political cartoons for the local paper, always finding a way to blend humor with insight.

His artwork is featured on the ArtLabs website thanks to his niece, who inherited his collection—pieces that had not seen sunlight in over 35 years. Moved by their emotional depth and expressive power, she has begun carefully restoring each one, honoring David’s legacy by bringing them back to life. These works will soon be on display in galleries to come.

Those who knew David remember him not only for his creative genius but for his contagious spirit, clever humor, and the motivation he sparked in others. His legacy is one of color, rhythm, and heart.
